What does Lightweight Body Armor Mean?
Lightweight body armor means protection. Lightweight body armor is a protective clothing or gear that is designed to resist penetrating attacks of fired projectiles and sharp weapons. It can also give protection from various other threats as well as fragment from explosions. In the past, lightweight body armor is used to protect soldiers and knights. Currently, more people are using lightweight body armor such as police forces, private security personnel, media and also private citizens as a means of protection from different threats that are present everywhere.
Lightweight body armor protects you through its capability to stop bullets. When a bullet or a fired projectile hits your lightweight body armor, the fibers of your body armor catches the bullet and deforms or “mushrooms” it. Each layer of the ballistic panel of your lightweight body armor helps in absorbing the energy of the bullet until such time that the bullet stops so it will not reach your skin and cause severe injuries in your body and internal organs. Lightweight body armor also means safety. Many lives have been saved because they have used body armors. Many police officers and soldiers have survived different assaults and accidents because they have worn their lightweight body armors during combats and when on missions. And many fatal injuries were avoided because their light body armor has absorbed and taken the impact that was supposed to hit the human body. Lightweight body armor should also mean comfort and mobility. The body armors used in the past is crude, uncomfortable, heavy and cumbersome. This is because the materials used for the early body armors are animal skin, unpolished leather and heavy metals. They are effective in giving protection and safety but since they are unrefined and heavy, it restricts your mobility and as much as possible, you won’t like to wear it. Lightweight body armors today will not only give your optimum protection, they are also lightweight and are designed to fit the body to give the wearer comfort and mobility. |
