Three Important Elements of a Lightweight Body Armor
Generally, there are three elements of the lightweight body armor and they are the following.
1. Ballistic Panels – The Ballistic panel is the most important element of your lightweight body armor. It is the element of the lightweight body armor which will give you protection from bullets and other weapons. It will give you protection by stopping the bullet from reaching your skin and reduces the injuries you can suffer from various accidents and assaults. These ballistic panels are made of superior materials like Kevlar, Twaron, Spectra Shield or Dyneema. These are the most popular fiber materials of the ballistic panels of your lightweight body armor. These materials are produced in laboratories, made into yarns and later on woven to make the ballistic fabric. Layers of ballistic fabrics made up the ballistic panel of your lightweight body armor and are designed to fit the ballistic carrier. How does the ballistic panel work? The ballistic panel woks by catching the bullet and deforms it so it will not hit the human body. The many layers of the ballistic panels help in stopping the bullet from penetrating deeper into the skin. 2. Ballistic Carrier – The Ballistic carrier is the garment wherein the ballistic panel is fitted. The Ballistic carrier holds the ballistic panels in place so it can fit the wearer. It houses the ballistic panels. The fabrics or materials used for the ballistic carrier are cotton or polyester and synthetic fabrics. These materials are effective in absorbing moisture as well as perspiration to keep the wearer drier and feel cooler. 3. Trauma Pads – Trauma pads are essential in lightweight body armor because they are the one responsible in lessening the blunt trauma that you can suffer from the impact or force coming from the bullet or fired projectile. It gives the wearer an enhanced protection by dispersing the impact of the bullet into a wider portion of the lightweight body armor. This will reduce the fatal and severe injuries which you can experience such as fractured bones and lacerations. |
